President's Message
(updated
01/08/12)
Dear Members,
I hope everyone had a safe and
happy holiday season. Our chapter year is half way over and it has
been a great year so far. As we turn the corner on the remainder of the
chapter year I would like say thank you to all the members for making
the first half such a success. We have had some exceptionally good
and interesting speakers and topics and the trend is continuing into
2012. Additionally, our attendance has been great in the first
half of the year, so please let’s continue the positive direction in
2012.
As
2011 ends the chapter is continuing to plan for the upcoming year, part
of that planning entails new chapter leadership. If you are aware of
someone you believe would be a great volunteer leader for our chapter or
you are interested yourself, I strongly encourage you to submit any
names and contact information to Rachel Snell, the chair of the
Nominating Committee.
I want to thank all of the
chapter members who completed the annual membership and CAE surveys.
I would also like to thank all the members that completed the
Chapter’s Research Committee Survey for the 2011-12 Chapter Research
Project on internal quality assessments and compliance with Standard
1311 to identify best practices.
CAP
Reporting Update
As of November, our chapter has
earned 765 CAP Points. In order to reach Gold status and maintain our
Platinum status, we have many more points to achieve. If you want
to know how you can help the chapter receive CAP points please contact
me.
Community
Tax Centers Assistance
I would like to pass on
an opportunity to our members to volunteer to assist in tax preparation
this year. The Community Tax Centers provides free tax
assistance for low income families and individuals in the
Austin
area. This year the tax center will need over 700 volunteers to
help complete the 20,000 tax returns. There is no experience
needed and they will be offering CPE credits again this year.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact

IMPORTANT
INFO ON REGISTRATION PROFILES Multiple
profiles with the same e-mail address have created a problem for our
registration system. SO,
we have just gone through a "clean up" of the profile database
and kept only the last profile created for each person. Unfortunately,
you may need to reset your password in order for your registration
profiles to work. There
is a "forgot password" link just below the registration login
- you must enter your e-mail address in order to receive an e-mail with
a link to go through the reset password process. If
you do not receive the e-mail with the link, please ask for help an e-mail by clicking
here instead of creating another profile.
As
you may remember, we added the ability to update profile
information when you register for a Chapter event. However,
it is a two step process. 1)
After you have logged-in to register for
an event, if
you change info on your registration info page, it will only be active
for the event that you are registering for. 2)
if you want to permanently change information on your profile, you must
use the "edit your profile" option prior to registering for
the event. One
you see
the "your profile has been updated" message after making the
changes, you can then
register for an event (without having to log-out and re-login). If
you have any questions, please send an e-mail by clicking
here.
